BOTTOM LINE: I Loved this book.
I had read Writers and Lovers, found it wandered a bit. And thus it took me a long time to finish.
Not so with Heart The Lover.
From the delightful bright cover and through all the pages, King moves along, and we readers are right with her.
YES, there are once again lots of names. But this time she handles them well…..we know who the MC is…Jordan, whose real name is Casey!! Oh well.
But this is a book of love, sex, feelings and best of all, GROWTH.
Jordan has her flings, but then becomes an adult with a husband and twins. And yes, she cannot forget the passion of her past….she can feel it still living inside her when she thinks of Yash, who then becomes the character King must sacrifice.
I get it. She is presenting THE YOUNG, THE STRONG, THE SMART. But life is life, and though Jordan finds a quieter existence with her husband, Sam, the burning experience with Yash is always there, such an amazing time with him, and so hard to reconcile when she learns Yash is dying.
I kept reading. I was there during the sorrow, during the loss. I found the intensity of the writing well done. And once again, the cover of the novel is delightful: flowers, tears, a kiss….if you have a copy, please keep reading. If you do not, consider this for a one night experience. The story moves…gives the reader only what is necessary, and her word choice….often poetic. ALL IN ALL….It’s a keeper.
